Your Next American Idol.......
Is NOT ME!! Oh Well. It was a fun time. I met some great people - none of which got call backs either - except for the one that dressed up like Zorro!
But here is the tale of a girl with a simple dream...........
I went with my friend, Katie from Radio Disney. We got to Birmingham around 8pm on Sunday. Went to the BJCC arena and registered and were told to leave and come back at 5am. So we found the fine upstanding establishment also known as the "Comfort Inn" and spent a few hours there.
We were in line bright and early and were there until we entered the arena at about 8:30am. We met some really nice (Godly!!) people in line and told our life story's while we waited. Played a lil Uno, did the whole crowd camera shot thing, learned Charles's string trick, danced a bit, sang "I wish I were and Oscar Mayer Weiner"......ok so maybe most of that was me - but still!
Once we were in the arena we did more crowd shot stuff....including singing "Sweet Home Alabama." This is where I got my moment in the sun! There was a camera on a crane focusing on the opposite side of the arena and a man with a hand held camera ON MY AISLE. Well he came up to me and Katie - and stayed on us for a full chorus of "Sweet Home Alabama!" We are destined to be on TV!! We are after all too adorable to pass up!
Once all the crowd taping was over - the arena floor was set up with curtain dividers and tables - 14 sections in all. At each table sat a producer and an assistant. Then began the cattle call! And I sat for 5 and a half hours! There were a total of 8,000 people to audition. I was in the 7,000ish area. We went up to the table 4 at a time.....sang one at a time.....were then told our fate. I auditioned with Anaquatia, Cason and Katie. None of us were allowed to finish our song....nor were the 20 people in front of us (which earlier we were told would get 1 verse and 1 chorus) and were politely told "Thank you all for coming. Unfortunately you aren't what we are looking for and I can't put you through to the next round. Have a nice day!"
So there you have it. Just like that REJECTED!! But I had fun. It was an experience to remember.....pictures coming soon (I have a film camera!.....call me old school) and I'm safely back home in the ATL......which for now is where I belong....but then again...there's always Memphis in 2 weeks....maybe I should rap for them!!!
Thank you to all of you who have supported my dream of becoming a rock star - hopefully one day I will do you proud!

Special thank you to Katie for going with me! Having someone sing "High School Musica" with you - makes you feel WAY COOLER!! and man.....wasn't Milo's the best! *wink*

Also - a special shout out to my Croats that were at home praying their tails off for me! While I didn't make it through - God's plan was still played out just like it should have been....and now I'm home safe!
